CC Cinema: person – in motion

person – in motion is initiated by visual artist Marie Thams and curator Rebekka Elisabeth Anker-Møller. Featuring the art film person, screened at CC Cinema, and a series of performative conversations with Danish authors, scientists and businesspeople the project aims to engage us in the current debate about the relationship between gender and power in Danish language and society.

The film person by Marie Thams examines the term ‘chairperson’ versus ‘chairman’ and addresses the way the gendered word follows a linguistic tradition that contributes to the perpetuation of particular notions of gender and the distribution of roles and influence in society. The artwork puts the subject matter in a wider perspective and reaches out to future generations, a who have the right to define the language of the future and their own leeway.

The performative conversation will explore essential issues of gender and equity, language, working life, power structures and the right to define one’s own life. Learn more here
