Ingenmandsland
Udstillingen
The experimental art project Ingenmandsland (No man’s land) invites enchantment and immersion in CC’s immediate surroundings through artistic explorations of materials from Refshaleøen’s everday life.
How does it feel to touch Refshaleøen, what does it smell like, and can you preserve the island in a jar?
Ingenmandsland invites guests to participate in sensory experiments, with the installation growing and changing shape based on the contributions of participating guests. During the opening period, walks around Refshaleøen will be held with the project team, where remnants, leftover materials from local actors, trash, and natural materials are collected and brought to CC.
At the heart of the installation is a large laboratory where collected materials are examined and processed. Here, you’ll find peace, light, and magnifying glasses to extract and preserve even the smallest details from the materials. Large aesthetic clumps are produced and cast layer by layer from the collected materials, then smashed and cut open.
The stories of the different materials are thus intertwined and melted into one sensory mass to be smashed, spread, and examined again in new constellations.
The remnants of the clumps are archived and continuously displayed in Ingenmandsland along with the diverse collection of preserved materials. The result is a large sensory and intertwined archive that provides an overview of Refshaleøen’s lived life and opens up a dialogue about consumption, resources, nature, and our relationship with our physical surroundings.
