Performance

The performance is part of CC10 – a three-day festival of performance, talks, and concerts at Copenhagen Contemporary, taking place from 23–25 January. The festival brings together artists, performers, and musicians in an intensive programme where performance unfolds across a wide range of forms and formats.

Over the course of all three days, audiences can experience a rich and varied programme of performances, talks, and concerts that activate the entire space of CC and create encounters between body, sound, movement, and storytelling.

“Let us take a turn about the room, it’s refreshing, is it not?”

The performance is staged as a choreographed LARP situation (live action roleplay). One guest at a time is invited into an intimate one-on-one performance, where a human figure carries the contours of a sheep. The face is shaped by silicone prosthetics, and the feet rest on aluminium-cast platform hooves.

The guest follows the sheep into a dream-play in which geopolitical unrest, power structures, and collective states of anxiety are interwoven with a longing for care. The sheep acts as a navigator of dreams, guiding the guest through the institution, along its dreamed dreams, and concluding in a cheek dance between guest and performer.

The performance explores the creation of intimacy, collective patterns of behaviour, and the capacity to cultivate the dream. Although the work is experienced by one guest at a time, the image of the cyborg—between human and sheep—moving purposefully through the halls opens a fissure within the exhibition.
