Exhibition opening: PROJECT ART WORKS
About
Join us for the exhibition opening when the British organization and artist collective Project Art Works opens Residential and transforms Hall 4 into a 1,000 m2 studio for CCs guests.
Project Art Works has been working with art practices for neurodivergent people for the past 25 years. As a large-scale co-creation project, the exhibition will be in continuous development throughout the period. The total installation will be an aesthetically inviting space, consisting of works from the artist collective’s collection and a studio where visitors are invited to participate in producing works during the exhibition, where there will also be specially organized workshops.
The exhibition is part of a new communication track, which focuses on strengthening wellbeing by supporting creativity in individuals and society.
We will highlight the project with a talk and workshops where everyone can participate.
More about Project Art Works
Project Art Works collective who collaborate with people with complex support needs, families and circles of support. Based in Hastings in UK, their practice intersects art and care, responding to neurodivergence, its gifts and impacts. Challenging paradigms of inclusion, it spans direct practical and holistic support, film, events, projects and exhibitions.
The studios provide the conditions for a broad range of autonomous and collaborative practice with neurodivergent artists, who take part on their own terms. Alongside the studios, the Support Collective brings together caregivers and care service users that share experiences and protect rights through training, resources and advocacy.
Project Art Works responds to the functional and ethical structures of diligence and care, respecting self-determination and privacy whilst working towards greater visibility and understanding of neurodiversity in culture.
Project Art Works was shortlisted for the Turner Prize 2021.

Shared studio
Join us to inaugurate the exhibition’s shared studio. During the day there will be an open workshop where all guests have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative work. In relation to the work of Project Art Works, we explore what happens when many people leave small traces that together over time grow into something bigger. How can we focus on process and community through creation?
The workshop
In the workshop you can participate in the performative workshop ‘Take the stick for a walk’ created by Project Art Works. We create a large collaborative work where we interact with each other and use our bodies. Draw with a stick, use tape to create shapes and cardboard boxes as obstacles, How do we relate to each other when we create together separately?
