Finissage – Monster Socks with Henrik Vibskov
About
Henrik Vibskov’s Monster Socks are knitted textile worms – soft, playful and sculptural figures designed to house what we would otherwise throw away.
Once again, we invite you to join us here at CC for the Monster Sock Project with Henrik Vibskov. This time it’s the finissage – the last of three events. The monsters have grown, the socks have stretched – now it’s time for one last stitch.
- 14:00 Event starts – make your own sock monster
Become an active part of the project:
Join the workshop and give your old clothes a new life. Bring socks, underwear or any other soft textiles to use as filling for the creatures.
A Monster Sock costs 290 DKK and can be purchased both during the workshop and in CC’s Museum shop until the end of September. Just want to take part? You can also contribute for free by adding to Henrik Vibskov’s large Monster Socks installation.
It’s a tangible, sensory experience where waste is transformed into a new object – a visual and physical reminder of how much we throw away, and what it could become instead.
The project highlights the massive climate impact of the textile industry and the urgent need for recycling. Textile waste has only recently been given its own category in Denmark, and from 2025, sorting will be mandatory across the EU.
The monster worm is inspired by the earthworm – nature’s quiet recycler. It processes the dead and gives life to the new. In the same way, we hope Monster Socks can remind us that even waste can have a new beginning and that awareness starts with an action we can feel in our hands.
The Monster Sock Project is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.
