Sunday the 29th of March at 11am-13pm: a mini-opening will be held together with the other CC Skills courses. This day is an opportunity to showcase what you have been working on during the course and to see what participants from the other courses have created. Each participant may invite one guest for free. After the opening, you are welcome to explore CC’s exhibitions or enjoy a cup of coffee in our café. Participation is optional.
CC Skills: How do I do Visible Mending is a 6-week course that invites you to repair and decorate your clothing with care for both materials and the environment. The course is aimed at adults and is suitable for both beginners and more experienced participants.
The instructor, Lisa Kappe, draws on the Japanese philosophy of Sashiko, where each stitch expresses care and respect for the material and the things we own. The course is about more than just sewing – it is about taking responsibility for what we possess and returning to slowness and immersion in a world marked by fast consumption. When you work with visible mending, you gain tools to extend the lifespan of your clothes while giving yourself the opportunity to pause and surrender to the satisfaction of letting your hands think for you.
What to expect
Each session is a sensory and immersive experience – 2 to 3 hours of experimental exercises focusing on visible repair and textile expression. Every class begins with an introduction to techniques and materials, followed by hands-on exercises where you learn to work with thread, patterns, and fabric in a creative and personal way.
You will discover how visible mending can become a space for presence, where it is not about perfection but about appreciating what you already have – while also creating something beautiful, sustainable, and meaningful.
