Cocktails & Curator: Alia Farid
Tickets
Let contemporary art open up to you as Senior Curator Aukje Lepoutre Ravn and Senior Researcher Helle Malmvig guide you behind the scenes of CC’s latest exhibition.
At Cocktails & Curator, we dive into the newly opened solo exhibition by Alia Farid. Senior Curator Aukje Lepoutre Ravn shares stories from the collaboration with the artist and provides a unique insight into the many layers of research, aesthetics, and political reflection behind the creation of the exhibition.
Alia Farid (b. 1985) is an artist and architect based in Kuwait and Puerto Rico. In the exhibition, Farid explores how social structures and materials evolve under the rapidly changing ecological circumstances of the Arab Gulf. She combines handmade and industrial objects with ostensibly differing meanings to reflect the context her practice develops in – a region where modernity is laden by the same imperial forces that fragment and extract from it.
As a special feature this evening, Senior Researcher Helle Malmvig from DIIS, who studies international politics in the Middle East with a particular interest in aesthetic expressions as cultural forms of resistance, will participate. After the guided tour, we invite you to a shared reflection in an informal atmosphere.
We round off the evening with cocktails and conversations in CC’s café.
Program:
- 18:00 Arrival and check-in at the foyer
- 18:30 Exhibition tour – the curator will meet you in the foyer
- 19:30 Cocktail and informal conversation at Darcy’s (the ticket includes a drink).
- 21:00 Thank you for the evening
Your ticket gives you access to CC all day, so you can explore all the art waiting beyond the guided tour.
The talk will be in Danish.
Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for another date.
