CC10: Sara Alfort – Book Signing

In connection with her talk during CC10, Sara Alfort invites the audience to a book signing at Copenhagen Contemporary. Following the talk, visitors will have the opportunity to meet her, have their book signed and continue the conversation beyond the stage. The book will be available for purchase in our shop, where the book signing will also take place.

In her latest book Da træerne voksede ind i himlen Sara Alfort challenges the conventional narrative of art history and brings forward a generation of female artists who lived wilder, freer and far more successful lives than history has typically acknowledged. Drawing on letters, diaries and extensive archival research, she rewrites our cultural history from a new perspective.

The book follows a Scandinavian group of women artists who moved across Europe in the late 19th century – painting nude models in Munich, exhibiting in Paris, gathering in artist colonies such as Grez-sur-Loing, and working in cities like Rome, Athens and Florence. They lived from their art, broke through glass ceilings, and forged their own paths. It is a vivid and surprising account of women who were not merely present in art history but actively helped shape it.

The book signing is free after paid admission.
