Turn down the pace, turn up the ideas

A workshop about attention – and what happens when you slow down

What you’ll leave with:

  • Trained attention. It sounds soft. It’s the skill that all good idea development, research and customer insight rests on.
  • A break from the pace that isn’t wasted time. You’ll be working the whole way through – just more slowly.
  • Proof that you notice very different things. That’s exactly why you’re a team and not one person.
  • Words for something that didn’t have words before. And a sense of what naming an idea does to it.
  • Practice in letting two things that don’t belong together meet. That’s how new ideas actually happen – not by pushing harder.
  • A calmer group than the one that walked in the door. That’s not a side effect. It’s half the point.

Most of what surrounds you goes unseen, unheard and unfelt. A sound in the background. The light shifting across the day. A mood in a room that no one can explain, but everyone adjusts to. Things like that usually get two seconds. Here, they get two hours.

Creativity is rarely about coming up with something out of nothing. More often, it starts with noticing something that’s been there all along. That’s what we practice.

  • Any group that wants to think differently than usual
  • Teams working with ideas, content, development, design or customers
  • Innovation days and theme days where the goal is new thinking, not just decisions
  • Professional communities where everyone is sharp on the same things and wants to see them from a new angle
  • Groups coming off a busy six months that need to be refilled rather than drained
  • If you’re more reflective than high-energy, this is the one.

We start inside the individual, move out into what you encounter every day, and end with what you discover together. There will be writing, talking, sensing and making. Some of it happens in silence, and that’s easier than it sounds.

We tailor the exercises to the group and to what you need the day for. The framework is fixed. The content can be adjusted.

In short: from the inner to the outer to the shared.
