Project: Ghost Flower Ritual

Cecilia Fiona & Sophie Søs Meyer

About Ghost Flower Ritual

Welcome to Ghost Flower Ritual, a multi-sensory and interdisciplinary artwork created in collaboration between Danish visual artist Cecilia Fiona and Danish composer Sophie Søs Meyer performed by musicians the classical ensemble Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. Created specifically for CC, the work can be experienced exclusively for 10 days during Easter 2025.

Ghost Flower Ritual brings together visual art, music and performance in a sensuous ritual that explores transience and the power of transformation in the face of today’s biodiversity crisis. The work is inspired by an alchemical myth of a flower that burns and rises from its own ashes.

Cecilia Fiona has transformed CC’s Hall 6 into a magical landscape where architecture, paintings, sculptures and costumes come together in a living scenography. The installation is brought to life through a series of live concert performances, in which Sophie Søs Meyer and the musicians from Athelas Sinfonietta activate the work with sound and music, while Cecilia Fiona’s sculptures and costumes are taken over by performers.

The audience is invited to enter an occult ritual where flower spirits, the biodiversity crisis, and hopes for resurrection are woven together in a sensory and ceremonial experience.

About the artists

Cecilia Fiona (b. 1997) is a Danish visual artist working at the intersection of painting, sculpture, installation and performance. Inspired by alchemy, quantum physics, and ecological systems, she creates dreamy, ever-changing universes where magic, transformation, and mythology intertwine.

Sophie Søs Meyer (b. 1991) is a composer and violinist, a graduate of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and recipient of the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen Talent Award 2023. Her work evokes fragile imagery rooted in extramusical worlds.

Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen is Denmark’s specialist ensemble for contemporary classical music. The ensemble is dedicated to the development of new Danish compositional music and annually presents several world premieres by Danish composers.
