Art Talk

CC x Kunsthal Aarhus: From Art of Sport to Go Extreme

Copenhagen Contemporary and Kunsthal Aarhus welcome you to a twin talk about the exhibitions Art of Sport at Copenhagen Contemporary and Go Extreme at Kunsthal Aarhus.

The two curators Louka Anargyros and Peter Ole Pedersen will together with the artist Søren Thilo Funder talk about the two exhibitions’ focus on sports and have a closer look at selected works.

Join us when we investigate what happens when sports and art are combined. The conversation will touch on topics such as gender and sports, the pursuit of freedom and identity, extreme sports, power and politics, body culture and mental states.

PETER OLE PEDERSEN (b. 1978) works as a curator, researcher, and artist. He is behind multiple exhibitions in various countries, often focusing on breaking down the boundaries between pop culture and experimental art. He has written books about contemporary art and film and operates the record company Kørfirs Records. Most recently, he is the recipient of the Bikuben Foundation’s Vision Award for the current exhibition Go Extreme at Kunsthal Aarhus.

LOUKA ANARGYROS (b. 1992) is a French artist based in Copenhagen and a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He works with queer-policy, exile, and inherited traumas in sculpture and installation art, and with a special interest in crafts and materiality. In recent years Anargyros has investigated how activism and artistic practice are affecting each other.

SØREN THILO FUNDER (b.1979) works with video and installation art. His artworks are merging popular fiction, cultural trends, sociopolitical situations, and visions of the future. He is fascinated by our common history, the paradoxical nature of citizenship, and time-related displacements. Through this, he creates artworks suggesting new spaces for time-based, political and reflective meetings.

BIANCA ARGIMÓN (b. 1988) is a Belgian artist, based in Paris. She graduated from Beaux Arts de Paris in 2015. Her artistic practice includes pencil drawings but also sculpture and installations combining politics, philosophy, and humor. She deconstructs familiar images and offers an alternative view. In 2018 she received the Lafayette Anticipation prize.
