CC SHOP x 91-92

About

CC Shop proudly presents a new collaboration with the design duo 91-92.

For this pop-up, 91-92 like to combine AI and 3D printing techniques. Similar to the renowned AI tool CHAT-GPT for text and Midjournery for imagery, 91-92 are testing out Point-E from OpenAI that generates 3D mesh based on descriptive prompts.

With the intention to explore and celebrate intimate daily life, their prompts will be based on a curated selection of personally loved second-hand objects. Some of the objects come from their collaborator vintage butique @PANACEA while other pieces are acquired from family, friends and even strangers. The object descriptions will be fed into Point-E, which will then generate explorative 3D mesh formats for printing. Their large scale 3D printer will be brought to CC and remain as a centerpiece of the pop-up, continuously printing these beautiful yet unpredictable AI generated objects.

During the two month residency, the printed objects will accumlate and gather around the original objects, forming one body of work, and slowly building a market. A market of YESTERDAY that represents used objects, a market of TODAY that represents the live 3D printing process the viewer sees, and a market of TOMORROW that represents the AI generated 3D printed objects. The objects are connected with an invisible thread: the loved physical, sometimes mundane, objects that surround us as we experience life.

About

ninetyoneninetytwo 91-92 is a Copenhagen based 3D printing studio, founded by Zeyu Rong and Weibo Sun. The role of the studio is to design and develop 3D printed objects with recycled material, using 3D printing to disrupt the conventional thinking in production. From design to production, 91 -92 3D printed all their objects locally in central Copenhagen.

By using 3D printing technology, the studio can localize our production, minimize material waste, and reduce energy consumption. 91-92 make sure there is only a single type of material used in each product. This makes the re-use and recycling of the material much easier.

91-92 insists on using entirely recycled material for every product. The 3D print filaments made by recycled PETG or recycled PET. The filaments maintain similar properties from the original plastic – lightweight and high resistance.

You can experience 91-92 at CC Shop in May + June and of course buy their 3D prints.

About Colabs in the CC Shop

Different collaboration partners are continuously invited to be part of CC’s store/CC Shop.

What is design and what are art? Our Colabs present us with new ways of thinking, help us to keep curious and continually question our selfs about our perception. The display mixes in what that you don’t normally associate with a shop in an art gallery and what you do. All collaborations have a term of approx. Two months. The collaboration partners can be anything from designers, artists, musicians and producers of classic everyday products, presented with a twist. Are you confused? Come visit.
