CC Art Talk: Performative Conversation

About

Come along when CC invites you to a performative conversation about gender, equality, language, working life, power structures and the right to define your own life with several strong artistic and activist voices.

As part of the project person – in motion, created by visual artist Marie Thams and curator Rebekka Elisabeth Anker-Møller, several leading authors and cultural actors will each give a speech, which will involve us in the relationship between gender and power in the Danish language and society: Merete Pryds Helle, Liv Helm, Nazila Kivi, Natalia Rogazewska, Marie Thams and Rebekka Elisabeth Anker-Møller, based on each of their own lived and professional experience.

person – in motion

The art project person – in motion, created by visual artist Marie Thams and curator Rebekka Elisabeth Anker-Møller, is the art film person that will be shown at CC Cinema in the period 08.02-26.02-23 with an accompanying series of performative conversations with Danish authors, scientists and business professionals.

The film person by Marie Thams (2022) examines the term ‘chairperson’ versus ‘chairman’ and addresses the way the gendered word follows a linguistic tradition that contributes to the perpetuation of particular notions of gender and the distribution of roles and influence in society. The artwork puts the subject matter in a wider perspective and reaches out to future generations, a who have the right to define the language of the future and their own leeway.

The performative conversation takes place in Danish in the Common Room on the 2nd floor. Registration is not necessary, but there is a limited number of seats, so please come early. It costs normal admission and there will be an opportunity to experience the film or see CC’s other exhibitions before.

We look forward to seeing you!
