What do we do to the body – adorn it, discipline it, optimize it – and when does shaping the body become a kind of magic?
ALPHA and Copenhagen Contemporary invite you to an evening seminar on the body as material and meaning in contemporary art and fashion. Unfolding inside the exhibition Shapeshifters – Magic in Art & Fashion, the evening moves from a curator’s tour, through a conversation on the ornamentation, discipline and optimization of the body, to a hands-on workshop where you make your own talisman to take home – before we round off the night outside with the last of the summer sun.
The seminar is part of a Nordic series supported by Nordisk Kulturfond.
Programme:
18:00 – 18:40: Shapeshifters – Magic in Art & Fashion
A curator’s tour with Ane Lynge-Jorlén, Director of ALPHA.
18:40 – 19:30: Body, Power and Aesthetics
A conversation on the body’s ornamentation, discipline and optimization with artist Lina Hashim and designer Jeppe Juel. Moderated by Ane Lynge-Jorlén.
19:30 – 20:30 – Make Your Own Talisman
A CC workshop led by three students from the Scandinavian Academy of Fashion Design (only the first 25 tickets include the workshop).
20:00 – 21:00: Outdoor DJ set
Wind down in CC’s outdoor area with DJ sounds, a cold draft beer and the last of the evening light.
